GRAMMIE’S SUGAR COOKIES

1-1/2 cups sugar
1 cube each butter and margarine
2 eggs
1 Tsp cream of tartar
1 Tsp baking soda
2 1/2 cups flour, unsifted
flavorings
Mix all except flour together; mix in flour gradually and refrigerate.
Roll into balls and flatten.
Makes 4 dozen

9-Inch Pie Shell
5 Oregon pears!
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup soft butter (Do not use margarine)
4-1/2 level Tbsp flour
1-1/2 Tsp vanilla
2 eggs
Slice and layer pears in pie shell.
Beat together sugar, butter flour and vanilla.
Then add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg is added.
Pour filling over pears.
Bake at 400 degrees, on bottom rack of oven, for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake another 50-60 minutes.
Turn pie half way through baking!

PEAR PIE

Set oven at 400 degrees.
Make a 9 inch pie shell, do not bake.
Pare enough pears, 5 or 6, for at least one layer; cut into quarters, then into eighths.
Put into pie shell.
Beat together:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup softened butter
4 level Tbsp flour
2 eggs
1-1/2 Tsp vanilla
Pour mixture over pears. Put into 400 degree oven for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to 325 degrees, and bake another 30-35 minutes.
